Haven't posted in a while. A lot of unpostable things have been going on, in my defense. In personal contexts some very good things have happened and some very bad things have happened, and with my malfunctioning brain I'm ill-equipped to handle either, really. I've been accomplishing adulting things for myself at rates that are kind of incredible for me...but I feel like I've also been notably lagging behind in taking care of people I care about. Cohost hasn't come down yet, but it will soon. I wanted to have more to say about it than I do -- I simply have not had the available brains to do that. Of necessity I've aggressively deprioritized a lot of things, and Thinking About Social Media is certainly one of them. (Unfortunately, photography has largely been another, and that _blows_.) I'm not much for new years resolutions or things that look even slightly like new years resolutions, but for largely coincidental reasons, I'm rejiggering some of my subscriptions and services. I'm trying out [inoreader](https://www.inoreader.com/) as a replacement for Newsblur, and I'm cautiously optimistic. It is not as powerful as Newsblur in some ways, and in other ways it is equally powerful but slightly slower to work with, particularly for filtering out undesired content. But it has a significantly higher level of polish, and it seems to handle some kinds of post formatting more gracefully on average. It doesn't have a built in microblogging function like Newsblur's Blurblog, but arbitrary tags or folders can be set to _output_ feeds and also be embedded as ifranes like so: <iframe width="670" height="800" src="https://www.inoreader.com/stream/user/1003817549/tag/shared/view/html?t=Shared%20RSS%20Items&cs=m&c=0xfefefe&bc=0x1a2433&n=5" frameborder="0" tabindex="-1"></iframe> A while back I dropped my Tidal subscription, and I'm currently trying out Qobuz as a replacement. Qobuz's catalog is even more limited than Tidal's, but Tidal's [ongoing encoding fuckery](https://youtu.be/48IPHc43M1k?si=Wsx95OuLCDWoMkSw) was a source of brain itch. This means that I can now listen to more new music again in between album buying sprees. I can also take advantage of the fact that a while back I updated my Hiby R5's firmware and found that they added system level parametric EQ, which is fantastic. [Auto EQ presets](https://github.com/kaurav99/PEQ-AutoEQ) are available for most of my weirdo IEMs and headphones, and having system EQ means that I'm not limited to Poweramp or similar programs when listening to stuff that really needs the EQ. Currently I'm working on some of the [[2024 Treble Best Ofs]] to catch up on releases I may have missed throughout the year. ![[2024-12]] ![[2025-01]]
