As temp., she has created several compositions using sequenced loops and samples characteristic of her minimal approach to production. Her inspiration to produce comes from her friends and partners—past and present—in and around Chicago’s underground experimental music community. Taking Notes is her first album. > > Prior to Taking notes, my recordings were scattered around SoundCloud, in compilations on Bandcamp, and videos on YouTube. When Jordan asked if I would send him a few tracks for a physical release on ADR, I compiled and completed several projects I had been piecing together between 2018 – 21. "The new is the old in distress" comes from a piece I started performing live in 2018 and decided to record for Taking notes. Between 2018 – 20, I recorded "Trying to climb ft. Emme Williams," "Rack of cries," and "Evening;" although previously released separately, they belong with this album. The first five tracks are new pieces created for this release while becoming more familiar with the process of recording.
